April Swap sign-ups closing soon

Just a quick update that the deadline to sign up for the April Monthly Doll Quilt swap is TOMORROW (3/31).

Normally this swap is closed to "members only"; however, we are opening up to others starting this month.

You are not committing to a "permanent" position in the swap. . . . these swaps are done on a monthly basis and you can "jump in" or "sit out" as you wish.

The guidelines are in the tabs but if there are any questions please feel free to contact me.

We look forward to seeing you in the swap.

Thank you!

April Swap Sign Ups are Now Open!

Have you wanted to swap doll quilts but did not want to make a "full time" commitment?

Have you wanted to be in a swap group with wonderfully creative members?

Do you have a wall that is just crying out for varied bits of color. . . . especially ones that perhaps are out of your "comfort zone"?

Then do I have a group for you!!

Doll Quilters Monthly was started several years ago and has been an on-going adventure for many quilters during that time.

However, we are trying a new way of swapping that might, perhaps, be less intimidating for  quilters that would like to participate.

The quilt size details will remain the same (and they are listed in the tab). . . but we would like to encourage new people to join our ranks so if you would like to swap a doll sized quilt please leave a message.

Be sure that there is a way that I can contact you by email.  And note, if you are new to the swap wewould like to hear about your prior swap experiences.  As this is an "honor system" swap we need to make sure that ALL commitments will be taken seriously and will be fulfilled.

We look forward to meeting new friends and having fun with more swaps.

Sneak Peek for Jenn in WA

Hi Jenn, Vintage fabrics and some hand stitching created this little traditional (sorta) quilt for March. Traditional quilts have always been a challenge for me---no matter the size.  This little quilt has some imperfections, I'm sad to report.  But, they maybe add to it's character.  Hope you will enjoy errors and all.  Will be mailing next week.   Soooooo, The Amish would be very proud of me.  One of their saying is something about they will purposely place an imperfection in a quilt.  Mine are natural.  Marie Bostwick wrote about it in her book  A Single Thread.

“One of the first bits of wisdom imparted to a novice quilter is that the Amish, who make some of the most simple but exquisite quilts in the world, purposely plan a mistake into each of their projects because they believe attempts at human perfection mock God.  Of course, any quilter knows that you don’t have to plan for imperfections in your work; they come quite naturally on their own, so I don’t know if this bit of Amish folklore rings true or not, but the idea does.”

Ann J. Received Hearts & Flowers Quilt

Hi everyone, I'm posting for Ann - she received her Hearts & Flowers quilt. I used florals for the fabrics and appliqued hearts. Since Ann likes old fashioned and scrappy, I used a Moda charm pack that was a reproduction line a few years ago. Ann says it's so cute and she "loves it to bits." (I love that expression!)

Sorry for the sideways photo. It is fine on my computer but every time I try and upload it to post, it rotates. Any way you will see how it turned out. :)

Lovely quilt from Ann in France!

Thank you, Ann J. for the wonderful mini quilt!

It's lovely and what fantastic feather quilted border and your mini stippling around the Dresden Plate. I also love the colors. Lime green and polka dots! The pink heart back is just lovely. Thank you also for the little cards, I think I may enlarge the drawings and convert them into applique patterns! It was fun swapping with you.
