Outside the Box !

My little quilt has arrived from Lee, and its so cute !

Lee wrote that she found the theme a little difficult, so started to think about where books started.  I have to admit it took me a minute or two to see where she was coming from, but once it became obvious it, it was a very clever interpretation !

Nice one Lee !!

Quilt from Ann

This Beautiful quilt arrived today from FRANCE!  In the snow.  Oh So much Snow...  Ann wrote in her note that the Fairy Tales of Hans Christian Anderson were a favorite of hers and her kids and grandkids.  So she thought of how Thumbelina sounded like "Thimble" and the idea was born there.
I love the fabrics, the pattern, and check out this beautiful feather quilting:

She also sent along these cute little heart clothes pins, I am smitten.

Thanks again, Ann, as I said in the email, this little quilt is already hanging behind my sewing machine, I love it so much.  -Lee

Quilt sent to Dorian

Yeah!  I heard from Dorian that my January quilt to her has been received.

Here is a picture of what she received:

Since we are both readers we decided to stay with the theme of "A Good Book". . . . and since her favorite color is blue and mine is yellow I was drawn to "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".

I'm calling the quilt "Follow the Yellow Brick Road".

The design is a version of the Grecian Key pattern.

I had fun going through my scrap stash to try to use as many different fabrics as I could in the colors that I chose.

I machine pieced the top and hand quilted it.

In peace & pieces,

Sherry
